The Dan-D Alamo Bowie
I use the Dan-D Alamo Bowie original pattern to create these.
The knife is 16.5" overall with an 11" blade. 5/16" 01 tool steel and a brass inlay in the blade. Heavy double lugged brass hilt and brass butt cap. The original had a solid Ivory handle.
This piece is currently priced at $3,450.00. This is a very large, time consuming and detailed piece of history.
Both the hand carved leather mount and knife are numbered.
This is a limited series of 1 through 10 only.

Here is the picture I was allowed to take of the original Dan-D Alamo Bowie in May of 2011 and this is the story behind the knife.
While driving from Virginia Beach to his new duty station in Yuma Az, my Dad decided to drop down to visit friends in Texas and tour one of his favorite places, The Alamo. As a man who loved knives and the lore behind them he always loved the big bowie style knives carried by the likes of Tarzan as well as Alan Ladd and his "Iron Mistress" in the movies.
While he walked around he was on the lookout for knives that looked like a Bowie as he invisioned it. Jim Bowie died at the Alamo so Dan assumed they would have a Bowie Knife there. He often mentioned that they didn't have any on display. He decided then and there to donate one to The Daughters of the Republic of Texas
It is still on display today in a case in the gift shop. This knife has been pictured in The Blade Magazine. One very similar to it, with etching of the Alamo scenes on both sides, made the front and back covers of the very first Gun Digest Book of Knives. It was one of my Dad's proudest accomplishments.
When my Dad died in January of 2011 I decided to make this series of knives to honor his legacy. In late May 2011, I rode my new Harley from Loveland, CO to San Antonio, TX and the Curator escorted me to the Dan-D knife so I could take pictures of the knife itself that I was going to attempt to recreate.
